Police will take strong action against anyone inciting violence during political programmes on October 28, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman.
He however said Bangladesh is a democratic country and everyone has the right to hold any peaceful political rally or movement.
The city police chief was talking to reporters at Uttara West Police Station after inspecting the activities of the MRT police unit responsible for the security of the Metro Rail.
Replying to another query, Habibur said a vested group is spreading rumours on social media to mislead people.
He urged people to remain aware of such rumours.
