Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon was arrested by the Detective Branch of police at Sipahibagh in Dhaka early Thursday.
Razib Al Masud, deputy commissioner of Motijheel division of DB, said that detectives arrested him as he was "wanted in several cases" filed in Dhaka and Narsingdi districts.
Meanwhile, the BNP leader's wife Shirin Sultana said that members of DB arrested Khokon at his brother's house in Sipahibagh area around 2:00am on Thursday.
