BNP demands strengthening security for Bangladesh ex-PM Khaleda Zia

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday demanded tighter security for former prime minister and the party chairperson Khaleda Zia who is now undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the demand in a statement sent to the media on Sunday, a day after a youth tried to enter the hospital cabin of the former PM.

In the statement, Rizvi expressed grave concern over the attempt of the unidentified youth to enter the cabin of Khaleda Zia.

He said that the attempt of unknown and suspicious youth to enter the cabin of BNP chairperson and three-time former prime minister Khaleda Zia was a matter of grave concern.

The country’s people are surprised to know about weak security measures for the three-time former prime minister even though she has been seriously ill for a long time, he said.

He wanted to know how an unidentified youth tried to enter the cabin by breaching the security cordon of a popular leader like her.

He said that the incident was mysterious and had created deep confusion in the minds of the people.
