Ganatantra Mancha urges people to show no-confidence in govt

Leaders of the Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, on Saturday at a rally called on the people to show a vote of mass no-confidence in the Awami League government rejecting the general election scheduled for today, Sunday.

The Mancha organised the rally in front of the National Press Club where Rastra Sanskar Andolan chief coordinator Hasnat Quaiyum chaired.

At the rally, Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq called on voters to reject the one-sided farcical general election scheduled for today as it would extend tenure of the immoral Awami League government.

Saiful Huq called on the law enforcers and government officials, who were performing their duties in the election, not to carry out the unethical instructions of the government and the Election Commission during their duties in the election.

Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki also called on the voters to reject the one-sided general election scheduled for Sunday and said that the government was creating anarchies setting fire on the Benapole Express train and trying to put the blame on the opposition parties.

Saki demanded neutral investigation into the fire incident on the train in Dhaka on Friday and to bring those responsible for the incident to justice.

Hasnat Quaiyum said that they would continue their movements against the government after the national election and would hold a mass sit-in programme in front of the National Press Club totay at 11:00am.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon said that democratic rule could not be restored in the country without restoration of voting rights of the people.

Bhashani Onusari Parishad member secretary Habibur Rahman Reezu, Nagarik Oikya central leader Mofakkharul Islam Nabab and Rastra Sanskar Andolan central leader Preetom Das also spoke at the rally.

Prior to the rally, the Mancha brought a procession that paraded different city roads.
