Govt will not obstruct BNP’s peaceful programs : Quader

The government will not obstruct BNP's peaceful programs, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said.

However, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, has made it clear that if violence is reported, then it will pose a barrier to their movements.

He made the comments at a press conference at the Awami League president's office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, on Tuesday.

“If violent activities like terrorism, and arson are carried out, then their movements will face obstacles,” he said.

Quader added the BNP’s political agenda is to blame the government.

“The government is guilty of all crimes. They (BNP) go to the United States to complain. BNP leader Moyeen Khan went to the US embassy and complained that there are no human rights and democracy in the country,” he said.

Responding to a question from reporters about the recent clashes of the Chhatra League at Chittagong University, Obaidul Quader said: "Arrangements are being made. It has been decided by the party that it is necessary to be as strict as possible to prevent the recurrence of these incidents.”
