Bangladesh beat Cambodia 1-0

Midfielder Rabiul Hasan’s lone goal propelled 192-ranked Bangladesh to a 1-0 win over against 172-ranked Cambodia in a FIFA International Friendly at the National Stadium in Phnom Penh on Saturday.

After the barren first half, Bangladesh’s substitute midfielder Rabiul scored the all-important goal in the 83rd minute to resume their international campaign with a win after around a five months break.

Rabiul placed the ball home from inside the six-yard box, connecting a cross from forward Mahbubur Rahman from the left side.

The day’s hero Rabiul, who is an Arambagh Krira Sangha player, came to the ground in the 65th minute replacing Biplo Ahamed and got the success within the 18th minutes.

Bangladesh started to play attacking game from the beginning and got six corners –three in each half- but could not utilise any of those.

This is Bangladesh’s third win against Cambodia in their four head-to-head encounters. Earlier, Bangladesh won by 2-1 in AFC Challenge Cup in April 2006, 1-0 in an International Friendly in April 2009 and drew 1-1 draw in Nehru Cup in August 2007.
