The body of actor, freedom fighter and ruling Awami League lawmaker Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque reached Dhaka from Singapore on Tuesday morning.
A special US-Bangla Airlines flight carrying the body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at about 8:00am on Tuesday.
The flight departed from Singapore for Dhaka at 5:40am (local time), said the airline’s general manager (Public Relations) Md Kamrul Islam.
The body was then taken to his home in capital’s Uttara, his relatives said.
His body will be kept at the Central Shaheed Minar at 11:00am so that people from all walks of life can pay their last respects to the legendary actor.
Later, his body will be taken to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation.
He will be laid to rest in Kaliganj, Gazipur.
Farooque died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore on Monday morning.
