DU admission test will be held in divisional cities

The first-year honours admission test under 2020-21 academic session of Dhaka University (DU) will be held in divisional cities.

The examinations will be held for a total of 100 marks, out of which MCQs will carry 40 marks and narrative 40 while there will be 10 marks for the results of SSC and HSC each. The required pass marks will be 40.

These decisions were taken at a meeting of the committee on first-year honours admission with DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair, said a press release of DU Public Relations Department.

According to the press release, the decisions were made on the recommendation of the Deans Committee.

The dates for submitting admission forms and the schedules for the admission tests will be informed in time, it said.

When asked about the exam centres, DU Pro-VC Prof ASM Maksud Kamal told The Daily Star that it has been decided to decentralise the examination centres from Dhaka to the divisional cities.

However, according to the location of the students, their examination centres will be determined so that they can take the exams smoothly.

For example, he said, it will be convenient and will take less time for a student from Daudkandi of Cumilla if his exam centre is in Dhaka instead of his divisional city Chattogram. In that case, according to the location, this student's exam centre will be in Dhaka, he explained.
