Lankan PM in Dhaka, looks forward to strengthening relations

Sri Lankan prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa reached Dhaka on Friday morning on an official visit.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina received her Lankan counterpart at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

He visited national memorial at Savar to pay respect to the people who sacrificed their lives in 1971 liberation war.

Rajapaksa will join celebrations of golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and birth centenary of Bangladesh’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Friday evening.

He will hold a bilateral talk with Hasina on Saturday.

Before departing from Colombo, Rajapaksa said in a tweet, ‘As I head to Bangladesh to participate in the celebrations of the golden jubilee year of their Independence, I look forward to engaging with PM Sheikh Hasina and the Government of Bangladesh to strengthen the bilateral relationship to mutually benefit both our nations.’
