4 arrested over gang rape in Khulna

Four men have been arrested for reportedly gang raping a woman in Khalishpur of Khulna metropolis.

The incident happened in Khalishpur’s New Market area on Tuesday night.

The arrestees are Saeed, 35, a resident of Khalishpur Bangabasi School lane, Nazmul, 20, a resident of People’s Panchtala area, Nuruzzaman, 35, and Sumon, 18, both residents of People’s Gate Rail Line area.

Khalishpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mosmaq Ahmed said after the woman filed a case with the police station, the four men were arrested by conducting raids in different areas of Khalishpur.

The four arrestees have multiple cases filed against them with the police station. They confessed about their involvement in the incident during preliminary interrogation, the OC added.

According to Khalishpur police, the 25-year-old woman was going to a relative’s house on Tuesday. The accused blocked her way and forced her to a nearby abandoned house where they gang raped her.

Later, the woman filed the rape case on Wednesday and underwent medical tests at One-Stop Crisis Centers (OCC) of Khulna Medical College Hospital.
