258 more dengue patients hospitalised in Bangladesh

A total of 258 more patients were hospitalised with dengue infections at different hospitals across Bangladesh with one death in the past 24 hours until Tuesday morning, taking the total number of hospitalised cases to 8,575 since January, 2021

In the past 24 hours till Tuesday morning, 212 were hospitalised in the capital city of Dhaka while 46 were elsewhere, said a press release of the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

The death toll from the mosquito-borne disease hits 38 with the death of a patient in the past 24 hours, according to DGHS data.

Among them, 12 died in July and 26 died in August while no death were reported between January and June, according to the official data.

Among the total hospitalised patients since January 2021, a total of 8,028 or 93.55 per cent patients have been admitted to hospitals in Dhaka.

During the past 24 days of August 2021, the total number of hospitalised dengue patients was 5,917.

Some 1,077 dengue patients, including 988 at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, were undergoing treatment on Tuesday.

Only 89 patients were undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country on Tuesday.

According to the DGHS data, 7,458 patients have so far returned home after recovery across the country since January, said the DGHS release.
