Covid-19 claims 102 more, infects 4,698 in Bangladesh

Covid claimed 102 more people and infected 4,698 more in 24 hours until Thursday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 25,729 and infections to 14,82,628 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 13.77 per cent.

Among the deceased, 52 are male and 50 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 34,111 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 705 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 87,88,765 samples as of August 26.

In the past 24 hours, 8,314 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 13,97,885.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 37 and Chattogram logged 24 deaths.

Reports received from Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira and Khulna said that at least 30 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning.
