Students aged 12–17 to get Pfizer vaccine: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahed Maleque today said that students aged between 12 and 17 years will receive Pfizer vaccine.

"All preparations have been made. The vaccination programme will begin within the next 15-20 days," the minister said during a view exchange meeting in Manikganj this afternoon.

The health minister said, "A Tk 10 crore agreement has been signed with World Health Organization (WHO). Eight countries around the world including Bangladesh were put in the red list. Bangladesh's name has now been removed from the list by the UK."

"The prime minister of Somalia lost power following the coronavirus outbreak; Thailand's prime minister's situation is similar too. However, we are in good shape," the minister said.

"We have vaccinated 2.5 crore people so far," the minister said.

However, the health directorate said over 2.18 crore people received Covid-19 vaccine across the country till yesterday.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Latif, Superintendent of Police Golam Azad Khan, District Council Chairman Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, General Secretary of Diabetic Association Sultanul Azam Khan, Municipality Panel Mayor Abdur Razzak, and Former Panel Chairman Khabirul Alam Chowdhury attended the meeting presided over by Manikganj Municipality Mayor Md Ramzan Ali.
