Notre Dame College student killed in Dhaka road accident

A student of Notre Dame College was killed in a road accident in front of Gulistan Hall Market in Gulistan area in Dhaka when he was hit by a waste-carrying vehicle of Dhaka South City Corporation Wednesday morning.

The deceased, Nayeem Hasan, 17, was a second-year arts department student of Higher Secondary Certificate of the college.

Nayeem, son of Shah Alam, of Kamrangirchar area in Dhaka met the fatal accident on his way to the College from his residence.

Paltan Police Station officer-in-charge Salauddin Mia said that they seized the vehicle and detained the driver Rasel Khan.

Abdullah Al Mamun, a pedestrian who rescued Nayeem from the spot and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, told reporters at DMCH premises that the DSCC vehicle hit Nayeem first and then he was run over by the vehicle at about 11:45am.

He said that he and other pedestrians rushed critically injured Nayeem to DMCH where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Bachchu Mia said that the body was kept at the hospital morgue for post mortem examination.
