Four teachers among five killed in Naogaon road accident

Five people, including four primary schoolteachers, were killed as a tractor, auto-rickshaw and a truck collide on Naogaon-Rajshahi highway at Bablatala area under Sadar Upazila in Naogaon on Friday morning.

The deceased are Delwar Hossain, 47, of village Bad Nehenda, Mokbul Hossain, 58, of Bijli, Jannatul, 35, of Blhardanda and Selim, 45 of village Dangapara under Niyamatpur upazila in Naogaon district and Lelin, 26, of Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha.

Of the deceased, Selim was the driver of the auto-rickshaw and the four others were primary schoolteachers who were passengers of the auto-rickshaw. The schoolteachers were on way to Naogaon district town to take part in a training.

The accident took place at about 8:00am and the five killed on the spot, said Naogaon Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Nazrul Islam.

Locals and the police said that the Naogaon bound auto-rickshaw was first collide head-on with a truck and, then, the auto-rickshaw was again hit by a tractor from the back, killing the five dead on the spot.
