BNP calls 2-day countrywide protest over attack on rally in Bhola

BNP has announced a two-day protest programme over an attack on its rally in Bhola that left a Swechchasebak Dal leader dead and 40 others injured.

It will hold a gayebana janaza tomorrow (August 1, 2022) in all the district headquarters and will stage a demonstration across the country on August 2.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the announcement at a press briefing at the party's Naya Paltan headquarters in Dhaka today (July 31, 2022).

"Police suddenly attacked and opened fire on our rally in Bhola. Abdur Rahim, member secretary of South Digaldhi union of Swechchasebak Dal unit, was killed and many were injured. We condemned such attack," he said.

The rally was organised to protest load shedding across the country.
