The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Thursday announced a two-day programme protesting at the killing of a Juba Dal activist in Narayanganj and attacks on the party’s 44th anniversary programmes in different parts of the country.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the demonstration in a programme in front of the party’s central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka.

As a part of the programmes, the party will arrange gayebana namaz-e-janaza seeking the salvation of slain Juba Dal activist Shaon, 21, after Juma prayers on Friday.

The party will also stage demonstrations across the country on Saturday.

BNP brought out a rally from its central office marking its 44th founding anniversary on Thursday noon.

BNP will also arrange a discussion on Friday on the occasion.

Earlier in the day, Juba Dal activist Shaon was killed and 50 people were injured in a clash between police and the opposition party members in Narayanganj as they took out a procession at about 10:45am, marking the founding anniversary of the party.
