Two people were dead and three were injured when a pick-up van rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Santhia upazila of Pabna on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are Motahar Hossain, 30, son of Abdur Razzak of Vitepara village under Nagdemra union of the upazila and Faruk Hossain, 32, son of Abdul Barik of the same area.
The injured were admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Identities of the injured could not be known immediately.
Madhupur Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Nabir Hossain said that a speeding pic-kup van hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw in front of Samasnari Madrasa on the Dhaka-Pabna highway at about 8:30am, leaving Motahar and Faruk dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue for autopsies, added the OC.
