The government on Tuesday approved the publishers’ application to extend the on-going Amar Ekushey Book Fair by two more days.
As a result, the book fair will be continued till March 2.
Cultural affairs secretary Khalil Ahmed said that prime minister Sheikh Hasina gave her consent to extend the fair by two more days.
Bangladesh Publishers and Booksellers’ Association on February 17 sent a letter to Bangla Academy director general Mohammad Nurul Huda urging to extend the fair date till March 2.
The academy forwarded the letter to the cultural affairs ministry.
