Eid journey: Over 12,500 train tickets sold in 3hrs

Bangladesh Railway on Sunday sold 12,500 advance train tickets online within three hours ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr journey.

According to the schedule, online sales of advance train tickets for the upcoming Eid started at 8am on Sunday. Tickets for the western region were sold in the morning, while tickets for the eastern region are being sold in the afternoon.

Over 12,500 tickets for the western region were sold from 8am to 11am on the first day.

Dhaka Railway Station Station Manager Mohammad Masud Sarwar shared this information.

He said: “According to the latest data, 12,600 tickets for trains on various routes from Dhaka to the western region had been sold by 11am. By around 12pm, it is expected to exceed 13,000. The total number of seats available for this region is around 16,000."

“Until 8:30am, about 1.5 million subscribers had hit the website to purchase tickets. This time, 100% of the tickets are being sold online. No tickets are being printed from the counters. For the first time, an OTP system has been introduced to ensure the ticket is secured by the traveller,” he said.

He further added: “Efforts are ongoing to ensure a smooth Eid journey, as always.”
