14 people died due to dengue so far

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has revealed that 14 people died of dengue fever.

Mahbuba Akhter, medical officer of DGHS control room, confirmed the matter on Wednesday morning.

Around 1,335 dengue patients have been identified in 61 districts in the last 24 hours.

No dengue cases have been recorded in Mymensingh, Netrokona, and Rajshahi districts, the medical officer added.

Around 4,408 dengue patients have been hospitalized across Bangladesh, with the highest 3,561 in Dhaka alone from January till July 30, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

However, the unofficial tally of reported deaths stood at 43 until Wednesday afternoon.

At least 973 new cases of dengue were recorded in Dhaka city in a 24-hour span since Tuesday afternoon.

A number of 679 patients, infected with the dengue virus, were undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital till Tuesday noon with 221 admitted in the last 24 hours, officials said.

Outside Dhaka, the situation was the worst in the Rajshahi division where 198 patients were hospitalised, followed by 151 in the Khulna division.
