Court accepts charge sheet against ex-Jubo League leader Khalid

A Dhaka court has accepted a charge sheet against former Awami Jubo League leader Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan in a case filed under the Firearms Act.

Judge KM Imrul Kayes of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court accepted the charge sheet on Wednesday.

The court also fixed February 12 for the indictment hearing in the case.

Additional Public Prosecutor Tapash Kumer Paul of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Court confirmed the matter.

Earlier on October 27, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Rapid Action Battalion 1 Belayet Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet against former Awami Jubo League organizing secretary (Dhaka South) Khalid.

On September 18, RAB arrested Khalid from his Gulshan residence for allegedly running an illegal casino in Dhaka's Fakirapool area. The law enforcement agency also seized illegal weapons, yaba pills, and a huge amount of cash from his residence.

He was then handed over to Gulshan police station on September 19.

A total of four cases were filed with Gulshan and Motijheel police stations under Narcotics Control Act, Firearms Act, and Money Laundering Prevention Act.

Khalid was later expelled from Jubo League.
