BNP urges political parties to form unity to oust govt

Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday urged the opposition political parties and people of Bangladesh to form a mass unity to oust Awami League from power in the upcoming 2021.

The party leader made the urge while addressing a rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka.

BNP centrally organised the protest rallies in Dhaka and at distract level across the country marking the third anniversary of the general elections, held on December 30, 2018, as democracy killing day.

Fakhrul called on all the political parties of Bangladesh to be united to restore the democracy in the country.

The government would be compelled to resign and form a caretaker government for holding a free and fair election, facing the united movements, Fakhrul said.

Police had barred the leaders and activists of Dhaka City unit of the party to participate in the rally, Fakhrul said.

Dhaka north and south city units of BNP organised the rally which was chaired by south BNP president Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel.

Among others, central leaders of the party — Amanullah Aman, Abdus Salam, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Habibur Rahman Habib, Kazi Abul Bashar, and Mostafizur Rahman Babul, spoke at the rally.
