Khaleda Zia shown arrested

Dhaka, Apr 8 (Just News): A Comilla court on Sunday showed the jailed BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia arrested in the case of killing eight people in an arson attack on a bus in February 2015.

Comilla additional chief judicial magistrate Mostain Billah also issued a warrant asking the jail authorities to produce Khaleda before the court on Tuesday, when the court would hear Khaleda Zia’s petition filed on March 13 seeking bail in the case, said Comilla court inspector Subrata Banerjee.

The court passed the order after the prosecution told it that Khaleda Zia, now in the old Dhaka Central Jail, could not be produced before the court as she was sick.
On March 12, the court showed Khaleda Zia arrested in the case and asked the jail authorities to produce her before it on March 28.

As she was not produced on the day, the court set April 8 for her production before it.

On February 3, 2015, miscreants threw petrol bombs at a bus at Jagmohanpur of Chauddagram in Comilla during the blockade of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led alliance.

Eight passengers were burnt to death and at least 20 others were wounded.

Chauddgram police station sub-inspector Nuruzzaman filed the case.

On March 6, 2017, inspector Firoz Hossain submitted the charge sheet against 78 people, including Khaleda Zia and six other to BNP leaders.

On February 8, 2018, the Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-5 jailed Khaleda Zia for five years in Zia Orphanage Trust case.
