Umpire Nadir Shah passes away

Bangladesh’s prominent cricket umpire Nadir Shah passed away on Friday morning at a City hospital after battling with a prolonged cancer .He was 57.

Nadir officiated in six Tests, 63 ODIs and three T20I and was regarded as one of the finest umpires and popular figures in the cricketing fraternity.

Nadir, who was born in an aristocrat family in Dhaka, made his international umpiring debut back in 2006 at Bagura, where hosts Bangladesh took on Kenya in an ODI match. Nadir’s brother Jahangir Shah Badhsah was a very prominent cricketer in 80’s.

Nadir Shah’s namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Baitul Aman Mosque in Dhanmondi Road 7 after the Jumma prayer.

Many players, organizers and people in the cricketing fraternity expressed their condolences on the demise of Nadir.
