Bangladesh beat India to continue unbeaten run

Bangladesh continued their unbeaten run to rise to the top of the points table after beating Saff U-19 Women's Championship favorites India 1-0 at Birsreshtha Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur Friday.

Shamsunnahar scored the all-important goal in just the sixth minute from the penalty spot after Bangladesh striker Tohura Khatun was brought down inside the box by India defender Tritina Devi.

The girls in red and green now have seven points from three matches while neighbors India are second with six points having played the same number of games.

The top teams will qualify for the final of the second edition of the regional age-level tournament.

Head coach Golam Rabbani Choton made three changes to the Bangladesh side that thrashed Bhutan 6-0 in their last game with Anuching Mogini, Shaheda Akter Ripa and Afyeda Khandaker making way for Nilufa Yasmin Nila, Shamsunnahar Jr and Marzia.

Holders Bangladesh earlier played out a goalless draw in their opening game against Nepal and will take on Sri Lanka in their last group stage match Sunday.
