Rajshahi Kings defeated Dhaka Dynamites by 20 runs in a low-scoring encounter at Sylhet in the 17th match of UCB BPL T20 2019. It was Dhaka’s first defeat in five matches while Rajshahi claimed their third victory in six matches.
Earlier Rajshahi Kings skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz opted to bat first after winning the toss. Miraz was dismissed after scoring just 1. But his opening partner Shahriar Nafees and Marshall Ayub then made an partnership of 75 runs in the 2nd wicket to boost the Rajshahi innings.
Following their dismissal, Dhaka bowler bounced back in the later overs to restrict the Kings for 136 for 6 in 20 overs. Marshall was the highest scorer with 45 off 31 balls. Sunil Narine bagged 3 wickets for the 19.
Chasing 137, Dhaka Dynamites did not have the ideal start as they lost Zazai, Narine and Russell inside the 4 overs for 23. Dhaka’s middle order batsmen have got the start but failed to score big as Rajshahi bowlers kept picking up wickets in regular intervals.
Nurul Hasan’s quickfire 21 gave Dhaka some hope but it was not enough as they managed to post 116 for 9 in 20 overs. Arafat Sunny grabbed 3 wickets for 8 who also named the player of the match for his brilliant spell.
