Bangladesh Film Artiste Association suspends Pori Moni, Eka’s membership

Bangladesh Film Artiste Association on Saturday suspended memberships of actress Pori Moni and Eka.

They took the decision in a meeting of its executive committee on the day in the backdrop of separate criminal cases against the two actresses.

The decision was announced in a press conference at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation on the same day.

The organisation president Misha Sawdagor informed the media about suspension of memberships of the two actresses.

‘We have suspended memberships of Pori Moni and Eka. The decision has been taken in a meeting of the executive committee of BFAA as per constitution of our association. We will take further decision regarding the matter in future,’ said Misha Sawdagor.

He said that the association would not take responsibility of any of its member’s personal activities.

Besides, general secretary of BFAA Zayed Khan, vice presidents of the organisation Masum Parvez Rubel and Monowar Hossain Dipjol and others were present at the press conference.

The Rapid Action Battalion on August 4 arrested Smrity Shamsunnahar, known by her stage name Pori Moni, at her apartment in the capital’s Banani.

RAB also lodged a case with Banani Police Station accusing Pori Moni and his manager on the following day and a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate remanded them in police custody for four days for interrogation.

She is now in Criminal Investigation Department of police custody where she is now being interrogated, the police said.

Eka was arrested for torturing her domestic help in the capital’s Rampura area on July 31.

A Dhaka Court on August 1 sent Eka to jail after police pressed charges of torturing her domestic help.
