Hefajat to lay seige to US embassy

Dhaka, Dec 8 (Just News): Hefajat-e-Islam will lay seige to the US embassy in Dhaka on 13 December protesting at US president Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The demonstration will be staged at 11:00am on that date, Hefajat announced on Friday.

The group will also take out a procession on Sunday as it condemned the US president's decision that was made public on Wedneday.

The Hefajat's decisions to raise its voice against the US policy were announced at a procession brought out from the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jumma prayers. Hefajat-e-Islam's Dhaka metropolitan committee convener Nur Hossain Quasemi made the announcement.

Another platform, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, also staged a demonstration at the same time in the city protesting at the Trump decision.

Sheikh Fazlul Bari, president of its metropolitan north committee, alleged that US President Trump does not want peace to prevail in the country. He said if different entities cannot stop Trump, the world's Muslims will teach him a lesson.

Donald Trump on Wednesday said the US will recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and asked the US authorities to shift its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is considered to be a holy place to the followers of mankind's three great religions -- Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
