Four people have been killed and 20 injured after a bus lost control and fell into a ditch in Sirajganj.
The incident was reported from Raiganj upazila’s Sholamail-Tobaria area on the highway at 2:30 am on Tuesday (Jun 2).
The deceased have been identified as Hamidul Islam, 34, Shahjahan Ali, 35, Fazlul Hoque, 35 and Ataur Rahman, 32.
Hatikumrul Highway OC Abdul Kader Zilani said that fire service and policemen recovered the dead bodies after the Rangpur-bound bus from Gazipur plunged into the ditch.
He added that the injured are undergoing treatment at Raiganj Upazila Health Complex.
This is the second fatal accident to taken place on the same highway at Sirajganj in the span of two days.
Previously on Sunday (Jun 2), 10 people were killed after a bus collided with a human hauler locally known as ‘leguna’ at the Boalia area on the highway.
