Govt instructs public hospitals to open isolation unit

The Health Service Division has issued an order to all the public hospital authorities across the country to open “isolation unit” as a precaution against Coronavirus.

The virus has already killed over 80 people in China in the last few days.

Director General of Health Service (DGHS) Dr Adul Kalam Azad came up with instructions while addressing a video conference about Coronavirus with the regional directors and civil surgeons at the conference room of Health Division at Mohakhali, Dhaka on Monday, reports BSS.

DGHS Information Officer Sheikh Akkas Ali said a discussion was held elaborately about the Coronavirus in the conference and order was given to take all-out preparation to prevent the virus as precaution though no people was found infected with Coronavirus yet in the country.

Primarily, the “isolation units” will be opened at all the Sadar hospitals and medical college hospitals, he added.

Besides, Abul Kalam asked the officials and authorities concerned to ensure medical test of all the passengers and tourists coming through port and seaport from different countries.

Central Hubei province is at the heart of China’s new virus Conora’s outbreak, which has killed at least 81 people and infected more than 2,700 people across the country and has spread overseas, including Thailand, the United States, and Australia.
