2 children test positive for coronavirus in Cumilla

Two children, whose grandmother died of coronavirus infection in Dhaka, have tested positive for Covid-19.

Test results of the children -- one 7-year-old and the other 4 -- were received today, our district correspondent reports quoting DrMdNeyatuzzaman,civil surgeon (CS) of Cumilla.

The children along with their parents moved to their ancestral home in Burichangupazila of Cumilla day after the death of their grandmother at Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka on Sunday, the CS said.

Their house at Jiyapur village has been locked down and their samples were sent to IEDCR for test, DrNeyatuzzaman said.

"Today we got the results. The children have tested positive while the parents have tested negative," the doctor said.

The children were taken to isolation under their mother's custody, he added.

The family was living atKhilkhet in Dhaka, according to family sources.

"After getting the confirmation of the result, we have locked down the entire Jiyapur village,"Imrul Hasan, upazilanirbahi officer (UNO)of Burichang, said.

Earlier only the house was locked down, he said.

Local administration and police are strictly instructed to maintain the lockdown, the UNO added.
