BNP has decided not to take part in the upcoming by-polls to Bogura-1 and Jashore-6 constituencies.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir disclosed the decision of the party after its standing committee held a virtual meeting this evening.
"Holding by-election in Bogura-1 and Jashore-6 amid pandemic and ongoing flood is illogical and unacceptable. So, we are not contesting the elections," he told The Daily Star.
The Election Commission has announced that it will hold by-polls to those constituencies on July 14.
