Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Awami League lawmaker from Noakhali-4 (Sadar-Subarnachar Upazila) constituency has claimed AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader belongs to a "family of razakars".
Ekramul, also the General Secretary of Noakhali district AL, said this during a Facebook live post from his verified Facebook account on Thursday midnight.
"…I will not talk about Mirza Quader, I will talk about Obaidul Quader. A man who belongs to a razakar family has come to this level, he cannot discipline his brother," he said in the live video.
"I will start talking about the issue if the district AL does not get a new committee in the next few days," the lawmaker threatened in the Facebook live.
Though the video was removed eventually, the post went viral on social media.
Contacted, Ekramul said even though he deleted the video, the statement he had made against the family of AL General Secretary was true.
"You will know who were the razakars in his family if you (media) look it up," he said.
Meanwhile, Md Riaz Uddin, general secretary of Asadia Union Juba League applied for a defamation case against Obaidul Quader's younger brother and also the Mayor of Basurhat municipality Abdul Quader Mirza in the court of Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate.
But no action was taken in connection with the application as the judge of the court was on leave, plaintiff's lawyer Palash Chandra Shah said.
