Send Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment: BNP urges govt

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on the government to send BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia abroad for advanced treatment for her post-Covid complications.

He has urged the government to take the steps to send Khaleda Zia abroad on humanitarian grounds.

Fakhrul came up with the call today at a programme held at BNP chairperson's Gulshan office in Dhaka for giving Eid gifts to families of party leaders and activists who died due to Covid-19 infections.

Following her Covid-19 infection, Khaleda Zia is now undergoing treatment at a better hospital, the BNP leader said.

He asked whether it is possible to take their leader to a hospital abroad for advanced treatment.

Her family members submitted an application to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and sought permission in this regard last night.

BNP hoped that the government will take measures for Khaleda's better treatment abroad on humanitarian grounds, Fakhrul said.

He also announced to hold prayers for Khaleda Zia's recovery next Friday.

Fakhrul informed that 425 BNP leaders and activists so far died of coronavirus across the country.
