President M Abdul Hamid today has given assent to the bill titled "Appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners Bill-2022" - passed in the first session of 2022 of 11th Jatiya Sangsad (JS).
According to an official handout issued here today, the President assented to the bill for formation of Election Commission (EC) and the next commission will be formed in accordance with the new law.
A Search Committee as mentioned in the law is yet to be formed.
Sources at the Bangabhaban said gazette on the Search Committee is likely to be issued within a day or two.
