Khaleda Zia to return home from hospital

Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia will return home from the Evercare Hospital on Tuesday evening after 81 days.

Confirming the news BNP chairperson’s media wing member told reporters that the decision was taken by the hospital medical board.

He said that 76-year-old Kahleda Zia would head to her Gulshan residence after 6:00pm.

He also said that the medical board would brief media about the health of former prime minister Khaleda at a press conference at the hospital.

Khaleda Zia was readmitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on November 13, six days after she had returned home from the hospital.

Khaleda’s younger brother Shamim Iskander applied to the home ministry on November 11, urging the government to allow her to go abroad for better treatment.

On March 25, 2020, amid the Covid-19 situation, the government suspended her jail sentences in two graft cases and released her from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on conditions that she would take medical treatment at home and would not leave the country.
