Dhaka, Sep 20 (Just News): Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said on Thursday that Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha wrote a fiction staying abroad because in his mental agony after losing the office of the chief justice.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, gave the reaction a day after Justice Sinha’s autobiography ‘A Broken Dream: Rule of Law, Human Rights and Democracy’ went viral on social media on Wednesday.
In the autobiography, Justice Sinha said that the government had forced him to leave the country in a humiliating manner before the completion of his tenure as chief justice for pronouncing verdict on the 16th amendment to the constitution.
When approached, law minister Anisul Huq, however, declined to make an instant comment on the former chief justice’s allegations raised in the book, saying ‘I will speak about it on time.’
Replying to a query on former chief justice SK Sinha’s book, Quader said that Justice Sinha wrote a fiction being brewed with heartburning, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangastha reported.
‘Is it necessary to comment on this,’ Quader asked, adding, ‘when someone loses power, he is grabbed by heartburning.’
The state news agency quoted the minister as saying, ‘If he is speaking the truth right now, then why didn’t he say it as the chief justice? Why didn’t he go to the public and highlight the fact?’
The AL general secretary talked to journalists before a meeting with the Pirozpur district Awami League leaders at the party’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka.
