Chhatra League attack  on Moudud’s rally, 5 hurt

Noakhali, Dec 24 (Just News): At least five people have been injured in an attack on BNP leader Moudud Ahmed’s motorcade during an election campaign in Noakhali’s Companyganj.

The attack occurred in Charkakra union’s Notun Bazar area on Monday.

The injured have been identified as Ashraf, Raquib, Belayet, Afsar Uddin, and Md Rakib.

Moudud, who is contesting the 11th general election for Noakhali 5, blamed Chhatra League for the attack.

“A group of people led by Chhatra League’s Charkakra union unit President Pinku attacked the motorcade and vandalized the cars,” he said.

However, District Awami League General Secretary and Companyganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Mizanur Rahman Badal said: “No Bangladesh Chhatra League activists were involved in this incident. They have attacked themselves and now are blaming Chhatra League to get sympathy and mislead people.”

Companyganj police station Officer-in-Charge Md Asaduzzaman said police responded to the scene and necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation.
