BNP calls for fresh JS polls within six months

Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s top leaders on Wednesday called for holding a fresh parliament polls in free, fair and unbiased manner under a neutral government within six months.

The leaders made the demand addressing a human chain in front of the National Press Club protesting at the 11th parliament led by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at around 10:45am.

The 11th parliament is set to go its maiden session at 3:00pm today.

BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed said only five to seven per cent voters were able to go to the polling centres on the December 30 parliament polls.

Moudud Ahmed, former law minister, said they would publish a white paper on the ‘widespread vote fraudulence’ in the polls.

Demanding stepping down of the incumbent government and cancelling the parliament, he called for holding a fresh election within six months.

Mirza Fakhrul also called upon all irrespective of party and opinion to get united for holding a new election to be conducted by a neutral Election Commission for forming a new government.

The human chain experienced a thinner audience while law enforcers were deployed at the venue.
