Vote for Boat: Hasina

Dhaka, Jan 30 (Just News): Ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) president and prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday sought vote for her party’s election symbol Boat, saying the 11th parliamentary elections will be held in December next.

“We want you to vote for election symbol Boat in the elections which will be held in next December,” Hasina told a huge public gathering at the Government Alia Madrasa ground in Sylhet.

Hasina went to Sylhet on an official tour to inaugurate government’s different development projects. She inaugurated 14 development projects and laid the foundation stones of 24 others.

On the sidelines of her official tour, Hasina joined the public rally organised by her AL party and sought votes for the next general elections in favour of her party.

“The Boat has brought us independence. The Boat has guided us to the prosperity. The Boat is steering the country towards development. Make a promise holding your hands up that you’ll vote for Boat,” said the AL president.

Thanking the gathering, Hasina asked them to remain vigilant against corrupt people and militants.

“Bangladesh will not continue to pursue the policy of begging. Bangladesh will prosper. Bangladeshis at home and abroad will keep their heads high in the world stage,” added Hasina.

With this rally, the AL president virtually began her party's election campaign almost a year before the expected date of balloting.

While seeking vote, Sheikh Hasina also made a broad hint that the general elections will be held in December.
