Sakib shines as Bangladesh level series

Dhaka, Dec 20 (Just News): Sakib al Hasan put up a brilliant all-rounder as Bangladesh beat West Indies by 36 runs in the second Twenty20 international to level three-match series 1-1 in Dhaka on Thursday.

Sakib finished with career best 5-20, also his maiden five-wicket haul, as Bangladesh bowled out West Indies for 175 runs after putting a record 211-4 in 20 overs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Rovman Powell hit 50 off 34 balls but succumbed to the pressure of huge asking rate as West Indies folded their innings in 19.2 overs.

Earlier, opener Liton Das struck 60 off 34 balls while Mahmudullah ( 43 not out), Saakib (42 not out) and Soumya Sarkar (32) chipped in with useful cameos as Bangladesh posted their highest ever score in a Twenty20 international on home soil.

Left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell claimed 2-38 for West Indies.

The third and final match of the series will be held at the same venue on Saturday.
