52 BNP leaders, activists sued over clash with police in Dhaka

The police have filed a case against 52 people in connection with Tuesday's clash between the force and the BNP during a march of the party in the Science Lab area of Dhaka.

Dhanmondi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ikram Ali Mia confirmed the matter on Wednesday.

He said the police had initiated the case for attacking officers and carrying out acts of vandalism.

Other than the 52, many other unidentified persons had also been accused in the case, he added.

Activists of the BNP and police became embroiled in a clash in Dhaka's Science Lab area on Tuesday afternoon after the force tried to disperse the protestors.

The BNP claimed 10-15 of its leaders and activists had been detained, while the police said 15 officers had been injured in the clash.
