Dhaka, Dec 7 (Just News): BNP has announced names of 206 candidates who have been given the party’s ticket to contest the upcoming 11th parliamentary polls with paddy sheaf.
General Secretary of BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the final list of candidates on Friday afternoon during a media call at the party chief’s Gulshan office.
BNP-led 20-party Alliance and Jatiya Oikya Front will announce their candidates on Saturday, said the senior BNP leader.
“We are taking part in the polls amid unfavourable circumstances. Our participation in the national election is part of our democratic movement,” said Alamgir before adding, “It’s also part of our demand to free BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.”
BNP has fielded standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in Dhaka-3, Salauddin Ahmed in Dhaka-5, Mirza Abbas in Dhaka-8, Abdul Mannan in Dhaka-10, Shamim Ara Begum in Dhaka-11, Saiful Alam Nirob in Dhaka-12, VP Joynal in Feni-2 and Akbar in Feni-3.
BNP chief’s personal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar accompanied Mirza Fakhrul in the media brief.
