Khaleda Zia allowed to enter IEB, finally

Dhaka, Jan 2 (Just News): After a drama, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was allowed to hold its planned programme at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) on Tuesday where BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia spoke as the chief guest.

Witnesses said several hundred JCD men gathered in front of the institution to hold their programme scheduled to begin at 2pm, marking its 39th founding anniversary. However, they found its gate locked.

Later, they were informed by the authorities concerned that Dhaka Metropolitan Police cancelled permission for their rally as President Abdul Hamid had a programme at the Supreme Court.
However, the JCD leaders and activists started demonstrating on the IEBpremises protesting the decision.

The BNP chief went to the institution around 4:30pm to attend the programme.

Finding the gate locked, she also joined the JCD men in the demonstrations.

Finally, the authorities opened the gate around 5:20pm in the face of protest and the JCD held its programme there.
