Dhaka South Jubo League President Ismail Hossain Samrat and one of his associates were arrested in Cumilla early today, Rab said.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion arrested Samrat and his associate Amran in Chauddagram upazila around 5:00am, Senior Assistant Superintendent Mizanur Rahman of Rab told The Daily Star.
Alkora union chairman Golam Faruk told our Cumilla correspondent that a team of Rab-7 from Dhaka surrounded the house of one Munir Chowdhury at Kunjushreepur village in the union since yesterday evening and later arrested Samrat from the house.
There had been speculations about the arrest of Samrat, the alleged kingpins of casino business in the capital, for the last couple of weeks.
